Research Associate in Computational Fluctuating Hydrodynamics Department of Engineering
Vacancy Reference No: NA08080 Salary: £27,428-£35,788
Limit of tenure applies*
A position exists to conduct research aimed at bridging Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)/ Fluctuating Hydrodynamics (FH) with fully atomistic molecular dynamics simulations. The work is funded by EPSRC and will involve developing a new unsteady CFD model for FH equations, coupled with a fully atomistic simulation, in a close collaboration with Aston University, UK, RIKEN Institute and Osaka University, Japan, and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The candidate should have, or be close to completing a PhD in computational fluid dynamics, mathematical modeling or a closely related discipline, have an experience in unsteady code development (e.g., Fortran) and high-performance computing (e.g., MPI). Familiarity with the fluctuating fluid dynamics methods will be beneficial.
Further details may be viewed at www2.eng.cam.ac.uk/~sak36/FH_advert.pdf. Applications should include a cover letter, a CV, and a completed form CHRIS 6 Parts I and III (downloadable from www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/hr/forms/chris6) with the contact details for two referees. These should be sent electronically to Dr S.A. Karabasov (sak36@eng.cam.ac.uk).
* Limit of tenure: 36 months.
Closing date: 15 May 2011. Planned Interview dates: Interviews will be held with selected candidates as soon as possible after the closing date..
