2011/2012 ECEAP/ESD scholarship program for Moldova

In the academic year 2011/2012 Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership (ECEAP) in co-operation with the Estonian School of Diplomacy (ESD), the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is offering scholarships for the young Moldovan diplomats and civil servants. The scholarship will cover all expenses related to participation in the ESD nine-month training course International Relations and European Integration in Tallinn (September 2011 – May 2012).

Training course

ESD offers 60 credit points (ECTS) training course “International Relations and European Integration” starting on 12^th September 2011 and finishing on 31^st May 2012. Successful graduates receive the ESD Diploma together with the Academic Record.

The training course consists of three modules:

-          International Relations

-          European Studies

-          Diplomacy

The working language is English.

The international study group consists of 26 students

Lecturers come from Estonia, other EU countries, USA and Russia.

Scholarship

Scholarship covers all expenses in Estonia related to participation in the training course:

- Tuition fee

- Monthly allowance (450 EUR)

- Accommodation in apartment in Tallinn city center (incl. heating, water, electricty, internet connection)

- Health insurance

- Visa/residence permit costs

Scholarship does NOT cover the costs of travel to and from Tallinn.

Eligibility

The person applying for the scholarship:

-          holds citizenship of Republic of Moldova,

-          is not older than 35 years (when applying),

-          is currently employed by the Moldovan foreign, including EU-related, or other civil services with international outreach; or is affiliated within International Relations discipline in public institution (state university, research institute, think tank), and has been employed there at least one year.

-          has very good command of English (speaking, reading, writing and listening skills are required on the level of upper intermediate or advanced),

-          is highly motivated to learn about international relations and related disciplines. Priority will be given for the candidates strongly motivated to continue their professional careers within the field of IR/foreign policy/diplomacy.

-          is hard working, co-operative and ready for intercultural team work.

The applicant should present:

-          ESD application form (downloadable here),

-          CV in English

-          copies of  university transcript in (unofficial) English translation, i.e. diploma of higher education and academic record

-          copy of (international) passport,

-          1 passport-sized photograph.

-          essay (3-4 pages, 1.5 line space, Times New Roman) written on one of the topics below:

1. Political Implications of the Global Economic Crisis

2. Environmental Disasters – Perceptions and International Politics

3. Is Authoritarianism Today More Legitimate than Ever Before?
