The early stage researcher/PhD student will be a member of the LCMI research unit (Language, Culture, Media and Identities) within the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg. He/she will work under the tutelage of the head of the LCMI research unit Professor Dr. Daniel Tröhler and Associate Professor Dr. Andreas Hadjar.
Activities
- Writing of a thesis in the domain of sociology of education; focus on educational inequalities (e.g. migration background) and characteristics of educational systems
- Contribute to research in the field of educational inequalities
- Contribute to teaching in the domains of educational sociology (educational systems, educational inequalities) and methods of social science research

Profile
- Master’s degree or a diploma in sociology or social sciences
- Profound knowledge of theories and empirical findings on educational inequalities and how different institutional settings (educational system) affect educational inequalities
- Be experienced in quantitative research methods (including sound knowledge of specific software like SPSS, STATA, AMOS, MPLUS, HLM etc.)
- Excellent command of at least two of the following languages: German, English, French
- Master’s degree or a diploma in sociology or social sciences
- Profound knowledge of theories and empirical findings on educational inequalities and how different institutional settings (educational system) affect educational inequalities
- Be experienced in quantitative research methods (including sound knowledge of specific software like SPSS, STATA, AMOS, MPLUS, HLM etc.)
